My Teaching Philosophy: Effective Teachers are CARING, INNOVATIVE, COLLABORATIVE, and REFLECTIVE.
As a caring teacher, I need to make myself available within the classroom, as well as outside of the classroom. I believe that students should feel comfortable with approaching me. I can provide a safe learning environment are by encouraging participation and questioning in my every day lessons. As a teacher I will enforce a positive environment for students to learn and grow. I believe that it is also necessary for students to feel safe and comfortable in the classroom in order to learn. This safe environment can be attained by maintaining a controlled classroom. In regards to classroom management, my first priorities will be student safety. If a student is causing an unsafe environment, disciplinary actions will need to be taken. As an effective way of discipline, I will make myself available to work with parents, sharing with them my goals of a safe and comfortable learning environment. To create innovating lessons, I need to allow gateways for students to discover and satisfy their curiosity. Students learn best when most curious, or can find a relevant connection to the course material and their everyday lives. Therefore, I will try to create real life examples and relevant, purposeful, lessons. I believe in collaboration among students, teachers, and parents to create the best learning experience possible for the students. By having an open channel of communication with parents, we will work proactively together to help the students grow. My goals as a teacher include creating this positive learning environment to help my students find a love for learning by creating everyday learners. As a reflective teacher, I understand that as students learn and grown, the lessons must adapt as well. I believe that daily reflections of teaching routines must be made in order to be an effective teacher. It is important to reflect on not only lesson plans, but also lesson delivery. If students do not understand concepts it is important to reflect on why that is. Often, remediation must be made, and as an effective teacher I will reflect and adapt to the multiple, and varying needs of my students. |
